The BiH Civil Aviation Directorate and the BiH Mine Action Center will sign an agreement on cooperation in the field of search and rescue in the event of an air accident on the territory of BiH, which, among other things, envisages three types of exercises, some of which will be at least 12 times a year.

The agreement is in the form of a proposal, and in the process of consultations, and it describes in detail the launch and conduct of search and rescue operations. The Rescue Coordination Center of BiH is in charge of operatively managing these operations in case of an air accident.

It is planned to engage human and technical resources of BHMAC, for the purpose of rescuing people who were injured in the crash of an airplane or some other aircraft.

BHMAC is obliged to provide the Rescue Coordination Center of BiH with access to information on the mine situation in BiH, within which BHMAC is obliged to regularly update information on the mine situation and unexploded ordnance at the site of the emergency.

In addition, BHMAC is obliged to provide assistance in engaging organizations and institutions in mine clearance operations if there is a suspicion that the rescue area is contaminated with these lethal means.

The agreement states that B MAC, in cooperation with the BHDCA, performs search and rescue exercises, namely full capacity exercises at least once a year, coordination exercises at least three times and communication exercises at least 12 times a year.

On the other hand, the BHDCA is obliged to conclude special agreements on cooperation in the field of search and rescue with other organizations and institutions, whose representatives it has already discussed on this topic.

We note that an agreement has already been concluded with the RS Mountain Rescue Service, which defines human and material resources, which, depending on the circumstances, are made available for conducting search and rescue operations in the event of an air accident in BiH, and a similar agreement is expected. will soon be concluded with the Mountain Rescue Service of the Federation of BiH.

The last plane crash in BiH happened in December last year in Kozara, where two people were killed.
