As part of the announcement of the completion of the Mine Free Sarajevo  project, fully funded by the United States Government, US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson, Acting First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political and Military Affairs Stanley Brown, Sasa Obradovic, BH MAC Director, and ITF Enhancing Human Security (ITF), the Mine Detection Dog Training Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina (MDDC) and the mayors of Stari Grad and Istočni Stari Grad, visited one of the sites demined within this project.

Location covers an area of ​​about 1.3 km2, where 236 mines were found.

The Mine Free Sarajevo Project was launched in April 2019, and the tasks were implemented by the Dog Training Center-MDDC, as the project holder, the Armed Forces of BiH, the Civil Protection of the Federation and the RS.

More than 1,300 mines and explosives were found, covering an area of ​​over six million square meters of land in both entities, including the municipalities of Stari Grad and Novi Grad, as well as Vogosca and East Stari Grad.

More activities are underway in the area of ​​East Ilidža, which are currently being implemented by Civil Protection of the RS and the Armed Forces.
