The eighteenth meeting of the States Parties to the Ottawa Convention this year is being held in a virtual format in period 16-20.November 2020. This is a formal meeting of 164 signatory countries to the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction.

The Eighteenth Meeting (18MSP) is chaired by Sudan and this is the first opportunity for States parties to assess progress in achieving the goals of the Oslo Action Plan adopted at the Fourth Review Conference in 2019. In this regard, 18MSP will review the current status of implementation of the Convention and establish a basis for the implementation of the Oslo Action Plan in the years to come.

During the meeting, States parties and others will have the opportunity to highlight their achievements and challenges in implementing the key objectives of the Convention and their obligations under the Oslo Action Plan.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by a delegation consisting of: Mirna Pavlović, Chair of the BiH Demining Commission, Sasa Obradović, Director of the BiH Mine Action Center and Tarik Šerak, Head of the Mine Action Department at BH MAC.

The Delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented a Request for an extension of the deadline for fulfilling the obligations under Article 5 of the Ottawa Convention.
