Despite the difficult weather conditions followed by strong wind gusts, five mine victims from BiH successfully climbed to the top of the mountain Maglić. Dragan Janjić from Trebinje, Nijaz Memić from Sarajevo, Dejan Zvizdalo from Trnovo, Mirko Zečević Tadić from Brčko and Željko Volaš from Banja Luka successfully overcame the ascent. “Mountain Challenge of Mine Survivors” is a specific activity that promotes the capacities and rights of mine survivors and calls on the competent institutions in BiH to fulfill the remaining obligations under the Mine Ban Convention regarding support in rehabilitation and integration of mine victims, as well as to clean and hand over the remaining contaminated territory to the local community for use by 2025 at the latest.

The event was realized with the support of the European Union within the project “Communities of different but equal citizens” which is realized by the Organization UDAS in partnership with the Helsinki Parliament of Citizens and UG “Something More”.
