Today, around the noon, in Bajinci, near Srbac, two children, herding, found the hand grenade in the grass and activated it by playing with. The explosion caused the death of the boy, and sever leg injuries to his sister. Girl was hospitalized in the Ambulance Srbac, and afterwards transported to the General Hospital in Gradiska. Her condition is currently stable.


During investigation, another unexploded hand grenade was found in vicinity of accident location, so the area was marked and population were warned not to use this area, until it is safe again.
The area where the children played was not mine suspected area, and the hand grenades were left there recently.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center warns people not to discard explosive ordnance, but to bring it to the closest police station in order to avoid similar tragedies in future.
