During today’s online meeting, Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre director informed the donors’ representatives for Mine Action about current demining status and activities in BiH.

 Through the discussion, all Mine Action donors expressed their concerns due to the fact that BiH Demining Commission members have not been appointed yet and also to the fact that IPA 2018 funds planned for demining were relocated to fight COVID 19 and migration issues.

Donors were informed about works being done on changes and amendments to Mine Action Standards as well as activities during which BHMAC conducts enhanced emergency marking of mine suspected areas.

Donors representatives expressed particular concern because of the delay in demining process, concern being caused by failure to form the Demining Commission. They have stated that, in accordance with their purview, they will call upon the authorities in BiH and ask them to appoint Demining Commission members  as soon as possible in order to enable their work and make demining process active.
